Sourced from the deep forest line of the Tanao Sri mountain range, which separates Thailand’s Central Plains from the Tenasserim Hills, Tanao Sri Red is a rare lowland/highland hybrid landrace exhibiting bold coloration, wild vigor, and intoxicating effects.
Taller and more intense than her sister Tanao Sri White, this cultivar finishes late — but rewards patient growers with deep red pistils, spice-heavy terpenes, and a powerful psychoactive effect that borders on visionary. It’s one of the most sensorial Thai landraces, known to amplify touch, sound, and immersion — perfect for long walks in nature or inner-world exploration.
Stems and petioles may show dark red or purple striations, and the leaves are narrow with medium internode spacing. Plants thrive in humid tropical zones with light organic inputs and deep soil. Flowering typically takes 14 to 17 weeks, but late harvests can unlock additional layers of flavor and effect.
In the Garden:
Tanao Sri Red is best suited to long-season outdoor growing in Southeast Asia or similar latitudes. It prefers natural rhythms — warm nights, rainy build-up, and stable light cycles. Mold resistance is moderate due to its open structure and essential oil content.
Ideal for landrace collectors, breeders looking for exotic inputs, or anyone seeking a plant that feels wild, spiritual, and truly Southeast Asian.
